You have previously been found to have low b12 levels. Sometimes this is caused by pernicious anaemia, where the body attacks the cells of the part of the gut that absorbs b12.
Your recent blood test looked at whether there is evidence that you have pernicious anaemia.
Your blood test was negative, which suggests that your previous low b12 is unlikely to be caused by pernicious anaemia.
This suggests that we can replace your b12 with tablets rather than injections.
We will therefore start you on b12 tablets, which CyanocoB12 100mcg, one daily. These have been added to your repeat prescription and a prescription for this can now be collected from the surgery.
You will no longer need to have b12 injections.
We would suggest that we repeat your b12 level again in 6 months’ time. Please contact the surgery to book this blood test closer to the time.
Should you have any questions regarding this please contact the surgery to book a routine telephone advice call with a GP.
Yours sincerely
