All residents who are accessing the community can obtain financial maximisation advise, information on cost of living payments and support with applying for benefits via the hubs and Money Advice Team. Each hub also offers warm safe spaces with free hot drink this winter. Residents can also seek support from Cardiff Wellbeing Service concerning activities, events and training opportunities within communities giving them choices of socialising in warm safe spaces. The Wellbeing Service can be reached on 02920 87 10 71 option 3. Some supermarkets also offer warm safe spaces, for example, Asda offers warm meal and unlimited hot drink to residents 60+ and community meet up spaces throughout the week.
Those residents who can communicate over the phone can access support via Money Advice Team who either will be able to support with completing applications online or send referrals for support at home, for example, DWP have their own visiting team who can support residents with completing disability benefit application forms. It applies to those residents who cannot complete the forms themselves and have no other support (no relatives or are unable to access the community).
Additionally, Council tenants have extensive support services such as Tenancy Support 02920 537 501 and Welfare Liaison Team 02920 234 200 who can visit those tenants who are house bound. Housing Association tenants can contact their housing association for support and advice from Housing Officers.
Housebound private tenants or owner occupiers can be referred to us either by emailing the referral to ilsgateway@cardiff.gov.uk or, if it is a quick query, by calling duty Visiting Officer on 02920 234 296. Those referrals are solely for financial advice and for those who are truly housebound. Anyone in need of a wellbeing assessment can be referred to FPOC by email contactils@cardiff.gov.uk or calling 02920 234 234.
